It was a very exciting weekend for me. Not only was it sunny and warm, I also got to have coffee for the first time outside with my gals:
They were happy to see me, which made me smile:
I don't have a chair out in the coop yet, so I use an old dairy crate for my seat:
I got a fright when I first opened the door to the coop, though. Worried about the open top to their galvanized feeder, I had covered it with aluminum foil the night before. This is all that remained the next morning:
Fortunately, nobody perished from my stupid mistake. I won't do that again. I still haven't found the rest of the foil yet.
Yikes! Is it just me or have the girls had a growth spurt just since you put them out in their hen house?
ReplyDeleteThey look so huge! I guess, like fish, they are 'growing into' their new larger space.
Ah..don't be suprised if you start noticing sparkly silver flecked chicken poo....
The foil will pass, literally. They'll have shiny, decorated poop!
ReplyDeleteYour hens are really beautiful! What a great way to start the day :)
ReplyDeleteSo, they really do eat anything! Good lesson learned. I'm learning lots of stuff from you Danni. Now I'll be totally ready when I finally get chicks. Yeah, right! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe girls and YOU look so happy!! That little Sparrow on your knee just slays me, she is something. My girls haven't hopped on me in forever, I have been too on the run to spend that kind of time with them, I am glad that you get to still. Mine do come running for their treats though!! I am SO glad you have your coop situated, it looks absolutely wonderful. :-)
ReplyDeleteCrazy about the foil huh? The coop turned out great and you obviously got the sunshine I sent you! Anytime you need more just ask. We have enough to share here!
ReplyDeleteI hope they'll be ok. My not-so-bright dog, Fishy, ate something off the counter that was wrapped in foil. We found all the foil. Later. On the lawn. We call him tinsel butt.
ReplyDeleteSo, the girls should be fine. On cold mornings you can always take a gallon jug of hot water out and that will serve to thaw any ice.
Ack, I misread and thought you covered the water to keep it thawed. Sorry, just trash that stupid comment!
ReplyDeleteI have a chair in with my biddies. I just love to sit and watch them. I also have a chair out in the barn where I can sit with the new baby goats and watch them too.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful and relaxing, isn't it?
Sounds peaceful.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have coffee with the girls! I'm going to have to start drinking coffee LOL.
