Here's what I had for dinner tonight:
This is a toasted peanut butter and Critter Farm strawberry jam sandwich with BBQ potato chips. Mmmm....one of my favorites.
I've been manning the farm solo for past eleven days and, when you're on your own, your vote is the deciding vote on what's being served in the kitchen. Funny how that works.
But even though I was tickled to have one of my favorite lunch meals for dinner, you can bet that I'm even happier my man is coming back home tomorrow. In his absence, I've learned that I really can live out here by myself for an extended period of time (and re-seed pastures, rig up new fencing, and empty mousetraps - ick), but I know for certain that I much prefer having him around.
:-)
There are a number of others around here who are anxious for his return, too:
And there's nothing like a huge farm welcome to let you know you were missed.
If my dad takes off for work, and my goat is outside, the goat will holler at my dad until my dad waves at him! That's a really awesome napkin you have by your plate!
ReplyDeleteYour place looks magical!
ReplyDeleteMy guy and I have been living apart for 2 yrs. now and I agree, it's nice to know you can do it but way nicer having them around. I have to wait 9 more mos. until we're back together.
Everyone looks like they are waiting patiently. I had a favorite lunch meal for dinner last night too!
ReplyDeleteWow, eleven days! That's a long time. I'll be Roxy will be the happiest, since she sees him more than the others do.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a yummy dinner and clean up is a breeze!
Farming solo (in the rain, no less) for that long is no small feat. You go, girl. And I love your table linens.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. I'm getting a few polish hens next year. Had them as a child and miss their funky hairdos.
ReplyDeleteIs he out visiting other bloggers farms too?
ReplyDeleteLove the Polish hens hair.
Are those personalized napkins?
ReplyDeleteGreat welcoming committee pictures. My Sweet Man could be gone for weeks on end, way back along time ago, and the being apart was good for us and the coming home was even sweeter because of it. How lucky you are. The Olde Bagg, Linda
ReplyDeleteDanni BBQ Potato Chips make PB&J gourmet. I gotta have BBQ Chips with my PB&J!! And yours are rippled-the BEST! Glad your Hubby is home :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
ReplyDeleteHope you all have a great Sunday! :)
So what's in the plans for Jim's homecoming dinner?
ReplyDeleteChai Chai - I found these napkins in Germany last time I was there - they are not personalized but aren't they fun? :-)
ReplyDeleteCaliforniaGrammy - He doesn't get in until after 8:30 tonight, so I'm already thinking about what kind of sandwich I'm going to have... :-)
Its such a good feeling to know you've been missed..I'll bet he's going to get a warm welcome by all when he gets home:)
ReplyDeleteI think it's good to know you can manage alone and also good when you can eat whatever you want for dinner. But having your hubby home is best of all.--Inger
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Jim!!! I love your farm pictures. Those happy faces will brighten anyone's day, wont they?
ReplyDeleteMy husband is over the road for days at a time, so I know what you mean. Not as long as 11 days(!) but long enough to know how much I need an appreciate him. And long enough to have some "just what I want" meals!
ReplyDeleteSo now I am craving some BBQ potato chips!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you take photos. Quite a feat you did the past 11 days. But happy for you that you're gonna have help now.
ReplyDeletewhat a welcome to come home too!
ReplyDeleteAnd you know I love your napkins! :) Today will be a happy day at Critter Farm. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am sure he will be happy to see all those cute faces
ReplyDelete11 days is a long time, isn't it? I'm glad you seemed to do just fine all by yourself, but I know you're happy to have your man home! In a few months I'll be spending about 8 days here alone, and I'm not looking forward to it one little bit - although a PBJ for supper might be fun :)
ReplyDeleteIf you put the chips inside the peanut butter and jam sandwich it's even better.
ReplyDeleteIts hard when they are gone! I have learned the same thing in the last year. Honeyman has had to travel for work which he never used to. At first I thought oh no!! I still miss him and don't like it but I have found I can do okay.
ReplyDeleteEven though you miss them when they're gone, isn't it such a treat to just eat what you want and not have to worry about the entire dinner?
ReplyDeleteThe entire gang looks ready to welcome him back!
Thanks for all the great goat advice. I bookmarked Fiasco Farms too - great site! We keep our feed locked up tight - same issue with the horses and donkeys. What breed are your goats?
ReplyDeleteHi Annette - Pete and Reggie are Nigerian Dwarf wethers. I can highly recommend this breed. :-)
ReplyDeleteI really love animals! I like the vid thanks!
