And on the third day...
We took it a bit slower than the first two days.
Smooch took a nap on my bed:
Carson and I took turns riding Lucy. Here's my turn:
Here's Carson's turn:
Here's the #1 reason in my mind why people in New Mexico wear cowboy boots when riding: Cholla cactus!:
Holy cow, look at the thorns on this baby! It actually embedded itself through my jeans and into my boot:
And speaking of cows, here are some:
And here is what's left of that dead one that Carson posted about when she and Lucy dragged the spine and ribcage back to 7MSN in this post:
Here's Smooch giving me her best "oh-my-gosh-I'm-so-tired face:
Followed immediately by her "is that rabbit I smell?" face:
And this is the face of a woman who loves riding her beautiful donkey:
These familiar faces were waiting for us back at the ranch. Hi boys!:
Recognize this gate?:
Lucy's a total pro at helping to open the famous 7MSN ranch gate now:
I was very impressed.
Back at the barn, Linda was getting ready to halter up Eugenia, the beautiful Delaware hen:
Kidding. But let me say this, I have a feeling we're going to be hearing some stories from Carson about Eugenia...she is one amazing chicken!
Tonight, we watched the movie "Buck", about Buck Brannaman, the legendary "horse whisperer". It was my first time seeing the film, Carson's third. Wow. This movie is so powerful, it hit me like a ton of bricks. If you haven't seen it yet, please, see this movie. Right away. You can thank me later.

ReplyDeletelooking it up on Amazon right now :) so glad you're having a good time!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had such a wonderful trip with good friends and animals. So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThe movie----Saw it for the first time last week. Amazing and beautiful story.
I'm sure you and Carson discussed whether that woman actually put that horse down when she got home. What did you decide? Eric and I decided she didn't do it. Too much baggage.
Always nice to take it easy on trips. Glad you are enjoying yourself.
ReplyDeleteConnie
So many adventures! Sure you wouldn't want to send some my way? Although I have many of my own here in the rainy NW, I sure could use some in warm and sunny climates.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered BUCK, will thank you later.
I've been loving the adventures of the donkey-teers these past few days!
ReplyDeleteKeep your boots on little lady. Those are some hum dinger cati your sportin there. Sorry, I couldn't help the accent.;)
ReplyDeletebeen lovin' those boots since I saw them in your "heading out" post... what a wonderful time you all are having!! Buck is streaming on netflix now so I better watch before they remove. I'll do it this week!!

Love it!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find Buck and have, as yet, been entirely unsuccessful. I'm very peeved, yet determined....
Buck was in our neck of the woods this weekend. My friend went to his seminar. She loved him! He is really funny...and I like funny.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered Buck the other day. I can't wait to see it! I'm glad you said you liked it!
ReplyDeleteWOW! How cool is that!! It's been awhile since I've checked into my favorite blogs and there you are at one of my other favorite bloggers!! Sounds like you are having a great trip, I'm envious!! :) I'm sure all your animals are safe and sound and will be happy to greet you upon your return.
ReplyDeleteOh...I forgot to mention, I went and saw Buck at the theater, then bought it the second it came out...followed by watching it 3 times, and then last weekend I went and audited one of his clinics. He's phenomenal...hoping to be able to participate in one next year. :)
ReplyDeleteis the movie "Buck" out on video yet or was it shown on TV?
ReplyDeleteCan tell your from OR. I live with cholla cactus and wear tennies most of the time. Just got a watch where your going. Better a cholla than a rattlesnake.
ReplyDeleteOdd that you live in OR and visit in NM. I live in NM and visit in OR. Thanks for coming to our neck of the woods - or is that cactus.
