A place I've never been
After what feels like months of preparation, many, many to-do lists, and a whole lot of work, I'm leaving Critter Farm for a bit.
We - my man and I - are heading to Ireland, a place we've dreamed of travelling to for more than a decade.
Interestingly, getting to Ireland right now is a bit of a dicey proposition. Ever since the volcano in Iceland, known as Eyjafjallajökull ("AY-uh-fyat-luh-YOE-kuutl-uh"), started spewing giant, travelling clouds of ash, Irish airspace has been forced to close almost every other day it seems. The most recent ash cloud measures approximately 2,100 miles long and 1,400 miles wide and seems to be hovering just off the west coast of Ireland. Travel is always an adventure, isn't it? We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be physically possible for us to land in Dublin when we get there on the morning of 5/10.
Though I will miss my animal babies, rest assured, the farm will be in good hands. I'll try to post at least a few farm and Ireland updates while I'm gone. This is assuming that they actually have Internet over in Ireland. (joke)
Tá súil agam go bhfuil lá breá agat!

And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
The critters will be fine and glad to see you upon your return!

ReplyDeleteI'm assuming no internet access means you're on your way or are there? I so hope so!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only Gaelic phrase I still remember is "Póg Mo Thón", but since that means 'kiss my arse', you probably don't want to use it. :)
Have fun, Danni and her man!
Hope you have a great holiday! You will almost be within waving distance of us here in Scotland... maybe if we stand on a big hill and get a giant hand... Hope you have a good time, I'd love to go myself, so close and yet we've never been! Why is it you never visit the things so close to you...

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place inhabited by beautiful animal souls you have trusted to us to look in on every once in a while. Tomorrow I get to breathe Critter Farm air again and pet all the animals that wish to be petted.
