Pete's big hurry

Yesterday's post, A really fast goat, showed a twenty-three second video of one of my goat boys, Pete, running faster than I've ever seen a goat run. What used to be a slow and peaceful walk back to the goat house every morning has now become a flat out sprint for Pete. What wasn't mentioned in yesterday's post, however, is that he is not sprinting back to the goat house.

Somewhere along the line, Pete has decided he much prefers racing to the human house and peering through as many windows and doors of the house as he can before the farm girl (a.k.a: me) can catch him:

Reggie, once he catches up, is only too happy to join Pete in his peering. It starts at the kitchen door:

Every time I am within grabbing distance of a red or blue collar, off they trot, giggling madly, to another window. Here's the bedroom door:

And the living room door:

And finally, the front door:

Though, by this point, Reggie's pretty much finished with window peering and prefers to perch regally on a rock that allows him to look out over the pasture:

There are hazards to goat window peering, however:

Roxy always volunteers for clean-up duty, but I don't appreciate her style of clean-up:

So I just use a broom, instead:

At least we're all getting our exercise this winter.

  3. You have very investigative boys! They look like a lot of fun and keep you and the rest of the farm family entertained. Thanks for sharing the photos! I really enjoyed the video of him running off down the hill. I can't quit laughing when I think about it.

  4. Too, too funny! They are soooooo cute and you've just got to love their energy. Loved the reference to goat hazards - our crew loves to volunteer for clean-up duty and I just can't handle it. :) Roxy is darling! What a little muffin. I gotta tell you - I'm envious of your green. That's what I miss most about Maryland.

  5. Roxy is such a sweet girl to want to clean up Pete and Reggie's little gifts! lol Those goats of yours are hilarious. I'm betting that one of these days either Roxy is going to let them in, or they will find another way to get inside the YOUR house! :) hee hee

  6. Goaties are just naturally adventurous and mischievous! My son says they are genetically itchy too and that is why they need so many scratchins! Your boys are super cute!

  9. Ha! Nosey little boys! Judging by their speed, I'm guessing they have quite a few minutes to poke around before mommy shows up! And look at how cute Roxy is peering out that door. ?What a fun day!

  10. I agree with Marigold - they are trying to assist in releasing Roxy from the human house! Have they ever snuck inside the house?

  12. What ever you do DON'T OPEN THE DOOR! They will go in the house. Don't ask me how I know. Or how messy it can get.

  14. Oh my goodness! Don't let Isobelle Go Lightly see this. She won't let her Lady alone, until she gets to visit the house.
