Say hello to my little friend

I went out to my garden to look for some peas and, instead, found this little guy:

He blended in so well with his surroundings, at first I thought he was a plump pea pod waiting to be picked:

He didn't startle at my presence, he just sat quietly and waited for me to finish:

At the end, he even gave me a little smile. See it?:

Nice motivation for maintaining a chemical-free garden, don't you think?:

  4. Just saying hello. Wondering how your side of the mountain is faring with this summer. Not really blogging much, but still visiting people and checking on them.

Peace to you... prepare for fall!!! :) (wishful thinking, I know. my tomatoes aren't even ripe)

  7. Dani- you have the most incredible gardens, I am jealous. How did you establish those amazing berry patches in such a short period of time. I like your visitor much better than the one Eve introduced us to!

  8. I agree, a chemical-free garden is the only way to go. You never know what surprises you will find. Just another critter calling Critter Farm home.

  9. Heyyyyy...I think I have seen that little guy before. Not in the peas tho. Hes so darn cute. And I love that hes made a sweet little home there...I bet there are lots of tasty bugs for him to eat. And I have to say that hes a bit cuter than those toads that you and K were making friends with last week.

Chemical free is the way to go, for sure.

  10. Very good to have a frog or toad in the garden. Good luck for you. Bad luck for the bugs.

  14. Awww, I LOVE frogs. We have two in our "courtyard" area, on the side of the house that gets little sun. Nice and cool for frog babies. We've named the first one Newton, and when the baby showed up, named him Figaro. (Fig & Newton).

  15. I love little frogs like that. They're so beneficial and, sadly, on their numbers are declining rapidly. I'll bet he thought you couldn't see him there. :o) I wouldn't have moved from such a cozy spot either.

  16. Awwww! What a cutie - and you took great pictures of him. How lucky to have him there to gobble up pesky insects. Maybe he'll invite his friends over to give him a hand with the job. I bet he's fast - he's got cute little racing strips!

  19. Perhaps he's partial to peas too! More likely, he's just a very good pea protector (-:
