Whenever I sit down

Whenever I sit down around my donkeys, Beau and Chester, it doesn't take long for one, the other, or both to find their way over to me for a cuddle:

...a nibble:

...or a rub:

Something about me sitting implies captive audience to my boys and I am gloriously, at least for a few minutes, the very center of their attention.

Now, this isn't to say that they aren't capable of entertaining themselves - completely and instantly - the moment I stand up:

It's just that, sometimes, Human Mom makes for great entertainment:

This last shot was a split second before I got smacked in the face with that green jolly ball.

I am selfless when it comes to providing entertainment for my donkeys. Heh.

  2. at least they don't have to wear cones! teddy is on the way to OSU right now to hopefully have hers removed. i don't know who it bothered most. as soon as she got used to it, it became the new attention getting weapon. my shins will never be the same. they are bruised, cut and downright gouged! it got to the point that when i saw her coming, i wanted to jump on top of something. of course,i didn't. way after the cone and memory of it is gone for teddy, all i will have to do is gaze down at my legs to remember it! i don't know that i have ever wanted to be cloned but i have definitely been coned!

  3. Too cute....reminds me of being used as a human scratchpost by the donkeys and of Misty taking all the gargabe bins and recycle bins from Donkey Day set up and placing them elsewhere or just tipping them over.
I could just sit there too and just watch.

  4. I can just imagine how wonderful it must feel to have them pushing against you. While I love my smallish dogs, I REALLY miss the feeling of a big dog leaning against my leg. It must feel just as good to have a donkey head against you. Envy.

  5. And it's one of the greatest feelings in the world, isn't it?

  6. What entertainment! (Except for being smacked in the face!) They look like such characters - maybe it isn't you they are after.... maybe it's because you are sitting in their chair!

  7. The things you do to provide some variety for your boys. They just haven't quite figured out how to play gentle with that big, dirty green ball.

  8. Love the photos of your longears "lovin' da Momma". Until I met a donkey in person, I would have not known the feeling you are talking about. Donkeys are the best...nibblers, leaners, lovers of scritches and sweetheart human in the middle sandwich makers.
Happy day to Critter Farm and da Momma, The Olde Bagg

  9. Not only are they entertaining, but they do adore you . . . I mean, after all, who but a good friend would a donkey share its green jolly ball!

  11. Beau and Chester are the most loving, sweet, loyal, comical critters I have ever known. Funny how they found YOU to live with!!!

  12. How CAN that chair still be in one piece?

  13. They do love that chair, don't they! Wonder how long it's going to last. I enjoy the same type of relationship with my babies, Tuffy and Toby (aka the puppies).

  14. I love that they are affectionate. I wish Thelma and Louise were the same. They tolerate me but never seek me out.

  15. You don't make it easy, you know... for those of us who's husbands have said "NO DONKEY'S!!!".

Give those boys an extra scratch for me!
