Beau and Chester... in oil
I got a fun surprise today when I checked my email and had a message from my new blogging friend, Pattie Wall at Dust Off the Butterfly, telling me she had just completed a painting of my donkey boys, Beau and Chester.
Pattie does beautiful paintings of all types of subject matter, but most touching to me is how she depicts her animals. It is striking how she is able to capture the eyes and spirit of her animals so well.
Pattie had asked my permission a few weeks ago to use some critter photos from my blog to paint, but I didn't know which one she would use. Until today.
You can see the in-process painting of Beau and Chester on Pattie's site by clicking: here. The final version is located here.
Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteokay... when I first saw the title of this blog off of Linda (7MSN) site, I thought your boys had gotten into some oil! haha! I was very relieved to see that it was b/c they were painted in oil! what a beautiful shot! I'll have to send her a pic of my beloved dog for a portrait.....
ReplyDeleteOh!!! This is incredible, Danni! What a treasure!!
ReplyDeleteI was expecting to find a story about some sort of donkey mayhem involving oil. Some mischief maaybe? Breaking things? Great painting though. Very well done
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!!! The boys to perfection, it will look lovely on the wall. Don't let Kai, Pete, Reggie or the chooks/chicken see it. Or they will be asking where their's is... oops nearly forgot Roxy :D

ReplyDeleteThanks Danni! It made my time at the easel such joy!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this painting. It's wonderful! I love the lights and darks. I love the impressionist style. I just love this donkey portrait!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the title, my first thought was "Oh. No." Knowing of course, their propensity for getting into trouble....or is that the goats...well, anyway, so very glad to see they were models for an oil painting, instead! She did a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see her paint your new leghorn from the photo you posted on February 17th. *smile* That would definitely be a portrait worth hanging on the wall with the rest of the family. *grin*
Oh, how beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI DO so love a donkey....but it's probably best I don't try and borrow one......
Have a lovely, sunny day!
Ooo. I wish she painted goats ... or Peanuts!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like most representational oil paintings, but I rather like this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteA real treasure indeed! I really admire great talent and what a gift of love for your critters. They were such good models . . . an extra handful of alfalfa would be nice! (Do donkeys like alfalfa?)
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift!
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky, lucky girl. What a wonderful surprise.
ReplyDeleteThis is a talented lady but the subject matter helps too.
Beau and Chester are just perfect animals to immortalize this way.
