A new pasture, opened
There's a tell-tale noise I make, a clanking of chain on metal:
...that alerts my small herd to imminent, untold delights:
Hooves come thundering:
down our big hill:
Chester sails over a log with anticipation:
The trio moves so fast:
...even the cloud of dust can't keep up:
In a swift maneuver that leaves me cheering...:
my normally slow and steady Beau maintains his strong -if unusual- lead:
and twelve happy feet sail past me:
With their eyes on the prize...:
nary a glance is cast my way, yet at this moment I feel profoundly appreciated:
Let the feast begin!:

ReplyDeleteWeeee! Pasture!
ReplyDeleteCritters can be so funny at times, especially when it comes to food!
ReplyDeletei get that same feeling from my horses when i open the front hay pasture to them for winter grazing - my heart sings for joy for them. of course, this year, with the drought, i opened it up to them August 1st since there's no 2nd crop and hardly any growth whatsoever... but at least they can forage...
ReplyDeleteLove it Danni! I'll take watching this trio racing over the Kentucky Derby any day !! That was quite a leap for Chester eh ? I'm impressed...when can I ride him through Central Park ? ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL isn't that sound of metal and chains just music to their ears lol...cracks me up at the DSC each time too.
ReplyDeleteHappy quadrupeds!!
ReplyDeleteWith all that pretty new green stuff, you may not see them for a month!
so much fun! You just want to jump up and down and clap your hands for them! What a thrill to watch, even from 1500 miles away! Looks like Beau is getting in shape for his South Dakota trail ride camp out?
ReplyDeleteLove the dust clouds! Amazing the little things animals pick up on and how they react. Let the feast begin.
ReplyDeleteI could practically hear the hooves and smell the dust!
ReplyDeleteI love your happy crew!
ReplyDeleteIt does my heart good to see them flying down the hill in anticipation. Life is good!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I think that's total appreciation!!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog, found my way over here from dogtrotfarm. Hope you don't mind my lurking around.
