Don't you just hate it...

Don't you hate it when bloggers suddenly disappear?  One day they are there, discussing their stuff, sharing their lives, detailing their happenings, and then the next - poof! - they are gone...sometimes for weeks (or even months) on end.

Now imagine you are that blogger, the one who suddenly disappeared.  Things might just not be working out for you.  Or, things are simply readjusting and will soon be right again.  As a blogger, you have realized that you require a certain level of peace and focus, two things that enable you to write.  If those things are not there, your writing feels forced and awkward to you. You might, in fact, lose all desire to blog, even though you feel guilty, then, for not doing so. You feel guilty for the sole reason that you want to share your animals.  You want their stories to be told. You need for their incredible personalities and antics to be noted by someone other than yourself - because these beings have brought so much joy that you want nothing more than to share them.  So, every day, you try to find that certain level of peace and focus again.  You know it will return, but sometimes, it takes longer than other times.

In case you haven't caught on, the blogger described above is pretty much me.  I'm so full of stops and starts right now, I don't know if I'm coming or going. It's not intentional, believe me.  My life is (and has been) undergoing significant change and many days I feel like I am just barely holding on for the ride.

In the meantime, though, when my head gets really full, and the words get all jammed up inside me, I head to my pasture in search of the sweet furried beings who ground me, and give me the peace and focus that is otherwise escaping me.  It certainly doesn't hurt if the sun is shining, too.

When I sit my hind end down on the slightly muddy ground, my sweet boy, Beau comes to rest his muzzle in my hand.

Kai llama, always very curious when I start sitting on the ground again, draws nearer than she used to.

I remember the days when she wouldn't come within a few yards of me.

She has grown very, very friendly in the last year.  She even lets me "boop" her nose now.

The underside of Beau's chin is incredibly soft. As long as I keep rubbing, he will stand completely still, sighing contentedly every couple of minutes.

And like the many other times, it was so peaceful in my pasture, I felt the weight of my world lift from my shoulders.  It made me want to write about it.

Chester, however, just wanted to nap.
To each his own. :-)

Thank you for reading my stories.

  2. What a wonderful place you have for just letting go of the world and all it's problems. They say animals can de-stress a person. I have personally found this to be very true. Always love seeing the pictures and hearing the stories about your farm.

  8. I understand your need to pull back at times, I do that too but I want you to know how much I love your blog. I am in my last 2 years of work before retirement to be a "farm" girl with chicks, goats, donkeys, and hopefully a lama and your blog helps me hang on till then. I love your stories! Take care. marsha@tubbslanefarm.com

  9. Sitting quietly with the animals is the exact way I get that grounding and peace that I need. You're so right about donkey chins...they are so soft :-) I have had several days where I just don't feel like putting words down, then others where they flow easily. I've decided to write my blog on my terms and if there are lapses, that is really okay.

  10. Dani, you just take all of the time you need. Don't worry about us. Like real friends, we'll be here when you need to talk. Take care of yourself and your family. ALL of them. Give Honey a hug from me.

  11. Oh, Danni. I'm sorry for your troubles, which I suspect are relationship-based from the tone of your post, altho I have no idea really. I hope it resolves itself in as decent a manner as possible. Meanwhile, go sit in the paddock now and then and post about it so that we know you're still there. Take care.

  18. It doesn't have to take a lot of words to keep your blog alive. Even just a picture with a caption can keep the guilt gremlins at bay for a few days. It's more important to spend time communing with the furry ones and keep your equilibrium.

  19. Hi Dani. Glad to see you back. Even more glad that your animals are there to support your heart and soul and to help you get your feet (or butt) 'back on the ground'!

  20. They really are sooo sweet and peaceful. Enjoy them and we will enjoy any time you want to and can post about them. My personal belief is that electronic communication has a timeless quality to it. No guilt allowed. Having a blog does not mean that you have to post every day, or every week. It just means that the channel is there for you to use. You built it, you have filled it with all kinds of goodness that can be revisited at anyone's liezure. Thank you,

  21. Danni, what a great post. Even if you haven't been posting as frequently as before (I remember when it was every day!!!), your words and photos are still a joy. You haven't lost the touch!

  22. Danni, I have been trying to comment on the blog as soon as I heard you were posting again. I don't think they've gone through but I too am so glad you are back to post whenever you can. It's just baby steps right now until you really feel right, so don't worry...as someone else said...we'll be here. You just post when you feel like it..just keep finding comfort and joy in your beautiful critters...they are the healers here.

  23. As a blogger who has not blogged in 15 days, i can relate. As a four-cats owner who finds such daily comforts in the Creatures, i can relate.
As a woman on the verge of a huge step, i can relate to the turmoil.
All in all, i can relate!!!!! Hang in there.

  30. You put the words right in my mouth..my blog, too, has been really lax. But I have decided to try to rebirth it and was starting by revisiting some of my old favorites and discovered, you too, were out of sync with the blogosphere. It's OK, if it was meant to be, it would be...I wonder if FB focus took me away from it? Here's to being at peace with it, whatever it is...really I came searching for more in depth of your coop/yard project. LOVE your critters.
