"Hey, Boys! Come here a second and see what we're going to do!"
Reggie: "What? What?! Are we going for a walk? Did you bring us goat cookies? Are we off to the pasture with Kai llama? Do you have carrot coins??"
"...or maybe banana peels and peanuts? Mmmmmm. We love banana peels and peanuts...
Wait. What's that?"
Pete: "Mommmm! You used your excited voice for....this?"
Reggie: "Worst. surprise. everrrrrrrr."
It was so much easier when they were tiny. They would fall asleep in my lap while I trimmed their feet. Now, at almost four years old, it's quite the wrestling match to do their toes. There is a great deal of kicking and fussing and attempts at running away.
But don't worry. I prevailed and there were plenty of peanuts and at least one banana peel presented at the conclusion of the
Those look like florist's shears!!! Just clip clip?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a great system down... want to travel over to the Oregon coast and help with the sheep flock? Our big ram really doesn't like trimming at all. Your boys are so cute!
ReplyDeleteNow Reggie & Pete... of course Mom used the her excited voice, foot care is very important.

Oh my, the last picture of Pete is delicious. He really has understood that it's time for hoof trimming. :/
ReplyDeleteI just found out that you are back blogging again. Oh, I am so happy as I really missed your blog. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteOh, the idea of baby goats sleeping on your lap is SO SWEET!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful!
That's kind of the look the cat gives me when I bring out her nail clippers. But she's simple compared to those two! It made me smile to see my dog's same heart-shaped tag on Reggie.
ReplyDeleteMomma, you used your excited voice???? I love that. Love the progression of photos as they came to realize....clippers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day.
Came over from Little Bit of Heaven. You've got a great party going here. I'm a farm kid to the bone even though I married a college prof and the only critters I feed now eat millet seeds out of a feeder. Thanks for providing the fun rural fix for one in withdrawl. Those goats should be paying you for that nice pedicure.
ReplyDeleteOh, the disappointment of it all. I hope you backed up all of this with lots of carrot coins and cookies.
ReplyDeleteI miss my goats, but I don't miss hoof clipping days.
I tried that excited voice on the dog this afternoon. She wasn't fooled--she knew a bath was imminent.
ReplyDeleteFuzzy Henry gives me the same look!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have been there to help :-)
They are so cute. I can't imagine wrestling one to do the pedicure though. I have a hard enough time clipping dog claws
ReplyDeleteIf I show the clippers around like that there's no chance of catching anyone 4-legged! Carrot coins must be the difference...
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet, wrestling and such aside. Congrats on winning the day. They love you enough to only fight a bit.
ReplyDeleteI came over from Carson's blog. Great pics. Thanks for starting up again on a blog I didn't know existed but will check back on for sure.
King of the... What is that large spool they are standing on?
