What a difference a day makes
The change was drastic and significant.
Yesterday, in a foggy, 48 degree rain, I donned long underwear beneath my thick farm pants to feed the critters:
It rained almost the entire day:
Honey spent the better portion of the day cruising the perimeter of the house under the cover of the eaves:
Then today happened. I squinted up at the sky and didn't dare believe what I saw:
By 9:45, it was brilliantly sunny, cloudless, and warm, warm, warm. Of course, being a bit of a skeptic, I still insisted on donning my long underwear, thick jeans, etc., etc. But the layers started peeling off by 10:45.
Not that I'm complaining.
Seriously.
It was bliss.
For everyone:
It almost felt like a holiday:
The daisies chose today to begin blooming:
Everybody got a bit of pasture time:
Kai was very comfortable with her new haircut:
Pete & Reggie even felt like playing a game they haven't been interested in since last fall... "Steal Danni's Stihl hat":
Pete took the game one step further today and taunted me a bit:
Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer. Picture me smiling.
I'm thinking some warmer weather will help Chester lose his Neanderthal brow:
I'm also thinking, "Man, my legs are white!":

I think my favorite picture, if there had to be one, was of Honey's butt and her chicken tracks- really well composed!
ReplyDeleteWasn't today AWESOME?!
Glorious sunshine . . . nothing beats it! Enjoy more of this and just soak it in. Don some shorts and add some color to those Oregon legs . . . I should talk, my California legs have been covered with jeans since a year ago when we were in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot of the hen tracks on the deck! What a beautiful day. I wish many more of those for you. I'm jealous of your mild temperatures. In southeast Tennessee we're in the upper 90s, no rain in sight, humidity at the killer levels. Gotta love the South!
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased for you! Enjoy every sunshiney-sparkly moment. Wait, you already do!
ReplyDeleteThe sunshine looks wonderful and obviously everyone was enjoying it fully! I love the shot of the donkey's sun bathing, and Clyde looks very happy, almost drugged by the sun?
ReplyDeleteIt was nice here on the coast, but today it's a bit overcast. Teenager will be bummed as she planned on sun-bathing today. I am hoping the clouds burn off...
ReplyDeleteLove how everybody is soaking up the sun!
ReplyDeleteHooray for sun and warmer weather!! It was a holiday for sure.
ReplyDeleteHa! One time the goatmother's grandpa told her if she'd run around the house, there would be two little white calves following her. She fell for it too. I bet it'd work for you. :)
ReplyDeleteHehe. I love this post, Danni. Hope you're all having a great day today! :)
ReplyDeleteWatch Oregonians come alive! Yesterday people were acting silly all day, driving like maniacs, buying garden plants, feeling sexy, wearing shorts, socks and Birkenstocks (not a pretty sight!), overdoing it in the yard, staring at the sky...... What is today going to bring? 84 degrees? What is that globe in the sky?
ReplyDeleteI love Zitrone's comment--it perfectly captures how people kick up their heels on a sunny day in the Northwest (we used to live in WA state, you know).
ReplyDeleteWe've had some better weather these last few days, beats the 70mph+ winds and driving rain!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful looking day! We are managing blue sky as well, and warm enough for the long-dog gang + Meah to sun themselves outside.
ReplyDeleteLove, just love Honey's chook prints!

Great post. Happy sunshiney weather to you! And I love Zitrone's comment about Oregonians above. Cracked me up with the mental imagery. Ha! Still raining, cold and grey here in the CA Sierra Foothills. Bah.
ReplyDeleteoh man.... I can just feel the sunshine and that wonderful "laziness" of spring where all you want to do is sit and breath in the air!
ReplyDeleteWe've moved on to sweltering down here......
glad you finally got some good weather! you can have some of ours!!! we have had august weather here for weeks. i hate it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy every minute Danni! My legs are white...it's been too hot to even go out!! We'll maybe if I wore shorts more often it would be better! At least I don't have a Neanderthal brow...I hope!
ReplyDeleteLove Pete with the stolen cap! And that is one relaxed kitty. We're finally having sun and warmth after a month of rain... glorious!
ReplyDeleteYea! Sunshine and warmth! Do you want me to send some mosquitoes?
ReplyDeleteThe sun finally showed up over the Tehachapis today as well, but it's still cold and windy and long underwear will stay on. And then....I will complain about the heat for four months. Remembering this, I am not complaining about the cold and windy weather this June.
ReplyDeleteI just love the picture with the chicken tracks. How is that children's book coming along?
ReplyDeleteI just love how you capture it all in your photos. Loved the chicken tracks and the sprawled goats the best!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!! I'd be more than happy to push some of this awful heat and humidity your way. :)

The sun's been teasing us up here, as well. Just showing a bit of leg and then disappearing again for a few days.
ReplyDeleteThat shot of Honey with her footprints is absolutely the best! And, it melts my heart to see Clyde so happy & content.
