My fortune from last week's Chinese take-out meal:
(Let me just tell you, I didn't have one bit of fun this last weekend and it's definitely affecting my productivity this week.)
Well, hello there.
It's me, Danni, returning to the Land of the Living. I have been sick for the last week and I'm kind of grouchy. A full week of my life - poof - gone...dedicated to the worst cold I can remember having. And it's still not gone, but at least I am upright again, which I see as a really huge step in the right direction.
You see, the majority of the last week has been spent either in bed or in a reclining position somewhere around my house. This, as you can imagine, made for rather limited photo opportunities. And I really like to take photos.
But habits die hard and I found myself trying to make due with my limited mobility and my phone camera.
For example, here's my dog, Roxy, sleeping:
Oh, and here's my dog, Roxy. Still sleeping:
I did try to vary my subject matter. For instance, here's the incredible meal that my wonderful mom hand-delivered to us (and then Jim served me in bed):
And here's the small, German dessert treat my mom stuck in with our meal. I love these:
And this little chicken? That was a small surprise my step dad put in our food basket to make me smile:
I am very lucky to have such wonderful people in my life who are always there to take care of me. Even Honey dropped by frequently to see why I wasn't coming out to play:
See everything a phone camera can capture when the need is there?!
Except for when I went out to feed, it was a very strange feeling to be inside that much, watching my beloved outside-world almost exclusively through the various windows of my house.
Everyone seemed to do just fine without me, though. Honey took full advantage of the two incredibly sunny and beautiful days we had by leaning up against the door and sunning herself:
Now, the real reason for this post is because I know I've promised a number of you some Kai llama fiber to play with - I want you to know that I haven't forgotten you! I've been sitting on my front porch today, packing it up.
And to the sweet person (Cathy!!) who has been waiting so patiently for some vegetable seeds from Critter Farm...they are actually in an envelope - all addressed and everything - I just need to stagger out to the post office to get them off to you.
Colds. Yuck.
So sorry you've been under the weather! It is no fun to be sick at any time of year, but I find it particularly insulting to get sick in the Spring, Summer, and at Holidays.Glad your on the mend, and hope the healing process is speedy!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like everyone is taking real good care of you. I think Honey has become a guard chicken. Hope you are feeling better everyday!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the land of the living!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I hate it when I lose time because of not feeling good. I planned a bbq, bonfire and sleeping outside Friday with my teenager and ended up in my bed after dinner with a migraine. Like you said, poof, its gone. Take care of yourself so it doesn't strike again.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if it will help but I swear by Sambucus - elderberry extract. It's an antiviral. If I get the slightest sniffle or the teensiest upset throat I dose myself with it and it always seems to do the trick.
ReplyDeleteThat Roxie looks like she really knows how to sleep.....maybe she was trying to tell/show you how!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are definately loved by those around you. Glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteokay.... honey is cracking me up.... I think that she thinks she is a dog! go honey
ReplyDeletesorry you've been sick... yuck and bummer... no need to answer that recent inquiry from me... I hate that you've been so laid up: feel better soon!!!!!
Hey Danni- no hurry on the fur- I've plenty of projects to keep me busy. You get better first.
ReplyDeleteAnd next time, look into Umcka at Freddie's or New Seasons, or Market of Choice, etc. Made of the roots from an African geranium, it shortens the duration and lessens the severity of colds and flu. My chiropractor turned me on to it a few years ago and now Steve and I keep a couple of boxes of it on hand at all times. It works really well- I'm always late starting it, and Steve has managed to thwart several of my colds that I've tried to give him. Not so good if you have asthma, however.
I hope you feel 110% healthy ASAP! Till then, take is easy and allow yourself to rest.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor snotbags! Glad you're feeling better ♥
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I forgot that you needed my address. I will email it right away. I'm glad you said something.
ReplyDeleteHope you get all better and, please, start paying attention to that hen. She needs you. She's waiting for you. Poor Honey.... couldn't you let her come in and lay on the bed with you?
Yuck, I detest colds! So sorry you've been under the weather.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you are feeling better! the Blog Tech has a horrible cold and is actually going to the doctor today! i just love honey. she is too cute. it seems that roxy had no trouble getting down with you while you were sick!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling somewhat better.
ReplyDeleteIt must feel great to be that loved and missed by a chicken.
I'm glad you're up and around! At least you have an excuse--I was just too lazy to post all week. I can't seem to come up with new material--stuff I haven't done before. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope this weekend makes up for last weekend!
Awhhhhh..so sorry you've been sick Danni..thats not fun..especially when its nice out..and you wanna get out and play in the yard..Glad your on the mend..I'm thinkin all the critters are also happy to see there best friend back in the groove:)
ReplyDeleteLove all the pic's..Roxy is so adorable~~
So glad you're doing better now. I sometimes wonder if illness is God's way of making us STOP and just BE for a few days.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, Danni. My latest sinus infection + bronchitis = no work in my garden for waaaaay too long. I'm so far behind!
ReplyDeleteFeel better!
Your phone takes much better pictures than mine. Your photos look great!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself. If you have to go to the post office before you are well, get someone to drive you.
And get well soon!
Sorry your not feeling well Danni. Get better soon. I'm glad your loved. It makes life much better.
ReplyDeleteKen
Hi Danni! I'm so sorry you were sick. I'm glad that you're feeling better. It's fun to see that Roxy was helping you rest. Made me chuckle. Sweet to see that Honey was checking on you. No worries about the llama fiber.
ReplyDeletePlease feel all better soon!
It kills me when one of my daughters is sick. But when it concerns my oldest (sorry, eldest!), she is not only sick, she's ILL. And when she's ill, the world in my house here is out of whack. So, the way I see it, it is farmgirl's immediate responsibility to put my house back into whack!
ReplyDeleteOk, I admit, I'm glad it was just a cold. I worried that there was more. I'm sorry you felt so bad, glad you are feeling better and that your Roxy girl was a great momma-sitter.
ReplyDeleteWe have been fighting the same here in Illinois. Nasty!
Welcome back, Danni! Hope you are feeling better. You still posted some cute pic, especially of your 2 biggest helpers - Roxie and Honey.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling better. Your mom is amazing! Kudos to you for continuing to snap photos regardless of how crappy you were feeling. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Hi Danni, Glad you are finally feeling better. I bet Roxy never left your side, and Honey waiting so patiently for you to get back on your feet. I love animals!
ReplyDeleteAgain, no worries about the seeds - take care of yourself.
Best wishes.....
So sorry to hear you've been feeling so poorly. There have been some nasty bugs going around, that's for sure. Honey is an absolute sweetheart, providing you moral support, like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Roxy. I've been wondering why I haven't been seeing much of her around here lately and now I know. She's been sacked out the whole time!
Be well,
Carolynn
Glad you're feeling better. Hate that you were sick. I know how you feel: I absolutely HATE missing my life because of illness. It seems such a waste of life.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you've been so sick. I got a goofy, mushy feeling, though, reading about your support network. Your family is amazing.
ReplyDeleteDanni, thanks for the bit of Kai fur and the treats. Didn't see your email addy, so need to send thanks via your blog. I'm going to make my own distaff to spin the wool. Will let you know if that works.
ReplyDeleteSorry you weren't well! I hope you are feeling much better now and have a wonderful weekend. That meal looks great.
