A random post about donkeys

Because it's my blog. And I really like donkeys.

The sight of Pistol running full steam down a hill straight at me always makes me a little bit nervous:

But, so far, he has always stopped in time.

Pictures like this melt my heart. This is Ian's face. That bottom lip jiggles like Jello when you scratch his ears:

Pistol has a thing for my big rubber boots. Maybe they remind him of his Jolly ball, I don't know. I was fearful for my toes:

Sometimes the four of us play hide and seek. This is Brownie hiding:

I find it impossible not to smile when I'm out "with the boys". Here they are waiting for me to tell them what we're going to do next:

This is what happens when I stand at the bottom of the hill and call out "Donnnnnkeeeeeeys!!":

Here's Pistol thinking deep thoughts:

Here's Pistol telling them to Ian:

Here's Ian clarifying with a follow-up question:

I'm thinking Stihl should definitely consider incorporating donkeys into their next marketing campaign:

  3. CEASE & DESIST, I SAY!

Or I'm going to have to buy the house next door and raze it to make room for donkeys of my own. Please stop tormenting me with your cute donkey videos!

  8. When they were running toward you, was that Brownie in the lead with Ian, and Pistol being the last? No, it probably was Pistol, always wanting to be first. What a great video - full of donkey love! Cute Daniella giggle at the end.

  14. Love. LOVE LOVE all the donkey pictures. They are so sweet. And Ian's lip really does get all jiggly like that.

Pistol must be sharing deep donkey secrets with Ian there. Maybe passing along huge life lessons and giving Ian some "big brother" advice.

Watching them run is an amazing thing. Just makes me happy to see it.

  15. Ooooh! Now let's see a sandwich board on Pistol with a giant "Stihl" on it! Do you think he'd go for it? Love the video. Even better is their equine body language with the gigantic ears laid back followed by innocent "What?" facial expressions!

    Love the donks...hands down!

I am an eastern transplant whose heart has always been in Montana. My husband and I moved 3 yrs ago and I am living my dream as well. I can fruits and vegatbles in the fall, we eat what my husband hunts,we help at a friends sheep ranch and we burn downed timber for heat. Our life here is peaceful and attatched to nature and the earth. I am a communicator/healer for animals and their human companions and it is a joy to see and read the love you share so freely. My horses are always teaching me about life as well as opinionated cats and of course my two dogs.
I am new too blogging and am grateful I stumbled upon your site. I intend to come often.
