One year ago yesterday, I took these pictures.
One year ago today, I still had three of my six foster donkeys:
...and my index fingers and thumbs would be almost black at times from rubbing the insides of donkey ears. They loved this.
This time, one year ago, I had fallen completely and totally in love.
Today, I really miss my donkeys.
Pistol:
Ian:
and Brownie:
If I had things to do over again, I'd do some of them very differently.
I'd still have donkeys.
LOL! Sounds like it was true love!
ReplyDeleteDani, I miss your donkey's too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you miss your friends. I love your photos of them.
ReplyDeleteAhhh the babies! Get more...they love you Danni!
ReplyDeleteThey were such good guests of the Critter Farm . . . there are probably others waiting for you to mother them!
ReplyDeleteMaybe some day you will have donkeys of your own. Can't you? I miss the donkeys so much too. But I'm glad to have found out what magnificient and noble animals they are.
ReplyDeleteYou can still have donkeys.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, by the way.
What do donkey's smell like? Do they smell like horses? Like goats? A little bit of each?
ReplyDeleteJust wondering,
Chook
How strange. Yesterday was the anniversary of when I came to live here on our farm. Well, you know, why don't you adopt one or two of those donkeys for yourself? I mean, you know, don't you, that donkeys are used as guard animals for goats? Sounds like a match to me. :)
ReplyDeleteWow Dani, it's pretty hard to make this old lady cry, but you did. Those photos and what you said..., you need some Donkey love.
ReplyDeleteYou need to rub someones fuzzy ear again.
Dani, you rock. I am sure there are other donkeys about who need to find some good homes, and if you let the word out that you are waiting for a donkey or 3 to find you, they will, because you are a great donkey Mom.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of my friend Sabrina; her horse Tia was the Maid of Honor and mini donkey Skittle was the ringbearer at her wedding. It was so cute! Skittles came to Sabrina when he needed a new home, and somehow found her. You totally rock.
Ali
If I didn't have so many horses, I'd get a donkey or two. I'd love to have a couple of Jerusalem donkeys, they are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLoved your post, first time visitor.
Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me sad to know that you are sad. I know how very much you love those donks. And how very much they loved you back.
Donkeys have become such a big part of who you are that I just know one day soon you will have some to call your own.
Youre the best donkey mama, danni.
Your Donkeys look sweet, I wish I could have some.
ReplyDeleteJenny
I'm guessing there was some falling out with the Donk rescue people. I'm sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should adopt a couple of your own? As Marigold pointed out, they are good guard 'dogs' for bitty goat boys.
what a great foster mom you are. and what cute foster donkeys you have!
ReplyDeleteGet a donkey Danni! There is a donkey out there that would love to make Critter Farm his home.
ReplyDeleteAww this makes me miss them too. Especially Pistol. I don't know why but he was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHave to say, I miss your donkeys, too. I learned a lot through your fostering, and would love to have my own someday.
ReplyDeleteThey do make more donkeys...you should get more. Too bad though that there will always be donkeys in need of rescue/fostering. But still, get more!
ReplyDeleteI remember the donkeys. I know you loved them. It showed in your writing.
ReplyDeleteKelly
We just got donkey awhile back,I would be terribly sad if they had to leave!
ReplyDeleteAwww they are so cute... I'm sorry you had to give them up. I wished I had a donkey :)
ReplyDeleteI miss your donkey updates too...Hey I have an idea...what about a camel???
ReplyDeleteAwww!
ReplyDeleteI miss seeing them on your blog, too!
Will you get more?? Please??
But in any case, I'm with "the inadvertent farmer"...get a camel! :)
Has it only been a year?! It seems much longer ago than that. I miss them too. I want a donkey, darn it! Is there a reason why you're not able to welcome another donkey or two back into the fold?
