Note to self

When heading to the garden next time...

Take a bigger bucket.

P.S.
I've been blog-silent lately, but it's not for lack of things to tell you about. Sick people (me), sick chickens (Bippity and Wynonna), and plentiful crops (potatoes, tomatoes, and raspberries) needing immediate harvesting and processing have left me drained of time and energy. Fortunately, I think the worst of it now is all behind me and I'll return here soon with a smile on my face and a tale or two to tell.

Beautiful photos of a bountiful harvest! Way better than my garden has been producing this year. End of summer blogging slowdowns are common. I haven't added a new post in 3 weeks and I need to get back to it. Time and energy are lacking here too. Good to hear from you. I love your photos.

what beautiful vegies. All of ours have gone by. We are still working on the garden, trying to make it better. I would love to eat that big tomato with salt and pepper. MMMMMM....

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Can I come shopping at your garden? Your vegies look so much healthier than the ones in the supermarkets. Oh, power outage was due to something happening to a sub station.

My problem when going out into the garden often is that I forget to take a basket at all. Then I scold myself and collect the cherry tomatoes in the bottom of my t-shirt. No, it doesn't have any pockets. I just pull up the shirt in front of me as high as it will go. I try to not pull it up too far so that it obstructs my vision or that I might shock the neighbors. This strategy works in a pinch, but I don't recommend it.

Where is my basket? Oh yeah, I lent it to farmgirl. I'll have to find a bigger t-shirt now.

We sure wish we had that problem. To much to harvest. You are so lucky to have all that.. Dad tried to grow tomatoes in hanging pots and they just burnt up here in Texas.. We did get one tomato..

I think many of us homstead types have been a little less blessed with time. So much to get done before winter closes in and the light is fading quickly.

Gotta go!

So sorry you've been under the weather, and am glad you're on the mend. I've missed you! Your photos look like they should be in a fancy-schmancy gardening magazine, they are gorgeous. You definitely need a larger basket!

What an amazing bounty! WHat is going to happen to all those lovelies?

No, no, no, it's swine flu, not chicken, Bippity and Wynonna are not supposed to get it. Bummer! Hope all are feeling better. Don't worry about lapse in posting. That just gives me a chance to catch up with my reading. I have looong gaps in my posting.

What on earth are you doing with all those tomatoes? Surely you are getting way more than you guys can eat... They sure are gorgeous and I bet they taste lovely. I wonder if an egg yolk tomato would be yellow like those I see in your basket...:)

And wow! The flowers are absolutely gorgeous. All the different shades of pink in those zinnias. And I can just see those sunflowers in a vase...standing tall and amazing. And happy.

Hope you and the chicken girls are feeling better. I know there are chores aplenty out there on Critter farm and I love helping out with them....Ill be there soon to help, okay? (And hey. Ill make sure to bring my own dustcloth.):)

Dani, I hope you and the girls are well or over the worst. Lovely photos. I wish I had some of those beautifultomatoes. My girl's favorite treat are tomatoes. I don't know what I am going to do once they deplete my harvest. This business of raising free range organic chickens is costly. Still no eggs.
