We did an all-local local Thanksgiving this year: Let's just say Maine wine (with all apologies to hard-working New England grape growers) leaves a little to be desired.Kathryn and Arihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15428974324817935286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845299642721912499.post-53490910908923783362008-02-21T08:39:00.000-08:002008-02-21T08:39:00.000-08:00Hi kathryn - I heard parts of that piece on NPR la...Hi kathryn - I heard parts of that piece on NPR last night. Fascinating, huh? For example, how a Bordeaux from France can actually have a smaller carbon footprint than a Chardonnay from California?
The perspective that eating local - depending on growing, transportation, fertilization, etc methods - isn't necessarily any better for the environment was interesting. Nothing is ever as cut and dried as you might think at first glance.Dannihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12623233206043947281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845299642721912499.post-6149212584802137012008-02-21T06:44:00.000-08:002008-02-21T06:44:00.000-08:00That's fantastic. Until they do, we're content eating out of our chest freezer. The green beans are starting to look a little weary, but at least we know exactly where they came from!

PS- There was a great piece on Fresh Air last night about carbon footprints and food.
